Tournament Rules and Information

FORMAT & ELIGIBILITY
The Great Blue course will feature a championship setup for a Two-Day, 36-hole Aggregate individual stroke-play
competition with gross-only scoring. Different pin locations and tee boxes will be used on each day. All professional and
amateur male golfers are invited to participate. Since this is a gross only competition, net strokes will not be given.
Amateurs with GHIN numbers should provide them as scores will be posted for handicapping.
DIVISIONS/FLIGHTS & TEES
There will be two separate divisions: Open – Gold Tees (6700-7000 yards) | Senior (age 50+) – Black Tees (6200-6500
yards). Since play will be from different tees in each division, competitors may only enter one division. Amateurs and
Professionals will be split into separate flights, dependent on participation (minimum 12 competitors).
SCHEDULE & PAIRINGS
Pairings will be announced via email and posted online. Competitors will be grouped by flight. Pairing requests cannot be
guaranteed. Sunday pairings will be reset based on the results from Saturday, with the leaders in the final groups.
OPTIONAL PAYBALL GAME
Entry will cover three separate competitions: Saturday, Sunday and Weekend skins. Any single low score on a hole will
be awarded a skin. All competitions will be scored within divisions. Scores from both rounds will be used in the Weekend
skins game. For instance, if there is only 1 eagle on hole #5 for the entire weekend, it will be awarded an "super" skin. All
participants are eligible to receive cash prizes for the skins games. Amateurs may opt to have prizes paid as book money.
RESULTS & PRIZES
Award summaries and full scoring results will be made available to competitors via email and online. Prizes are guaranteed
for the top 25% of the field. Only professionals are eligible for cash prizes. Amateurs will be awarded prizes in the form of
Heron Lakes gift certificates, valid towards merchandise, golf lessons, equipment rentals, club repair and driving range.
TOURNAMENT & LOCAL RULES
USGA Rules govern all play except as modified below:
Drop Zones – the tee box of the yellow stones will be used as drop zones on holes #4, 11 & 15. When used, ball
must be dropped on the tee box of the yellow stones, no closer to the hole than the yardage plate.
Native Grass – will be played as a LOST BALL. Always hit provisional shots when in doubt.
Abnormal Ground Conditions – free relief will be granted in all areas marked with white paint.
Out of Bounds – in addition to boundary fences on hole 2, OB will be marked by white stakes or lines.
Electrical Boxes & Pump Houses – are permanent immovable obstructions. Relief only for stance and swing.
Ties & Playoffs – in the event of any tie for 1st place, a sudden death playoff will occur beginning on hole 1.
Range Finders – are permitted in accordance with the policies set by the USGA and OGA.
Caddies & Spectators – spectators are allowed to observe, provided that they do not act as a caddie.
Weather/Conditions – In the event that both rounds of the competition cannot be completed by the end of the
day on Sunday, the tournament will be reduced to an 18-hole competition using scores from the first round.
